03.16.2016 Old Testament: Deu 28.24–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 28 on March 16, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord laid out before the eyes of the children of Israel what would happen, if they failed to obey Him, including,
“The LORD will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed. The LORD will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth. Your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one shall frighten them away” (Deuteronomy 28.24–26).
The Lord would hold back the rain of heaven, causing the land to dry up, and they would lose battles, and those who died, no one would chase away the animals that came to devour the flesh of the dead, because no one would care.
It sounds like it is better to obey in the first place. How many nations have experienced these very problems, because they failed to listen to God?
Questions:
- Do you seek to obey the Lord?
- If your nation has turned its back on the Lord, what can you do to help bring it back?
