An unborn baby leaped for the presence of Mary

Gabriel told Mary that she would bring the Son of God into the world. Then she went to visit Elizabeth, the mother-to-be of John the Baptist, and when Mary arrived, something wonderful happened,

Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1.39–41).

Actually, two wonderful things happened when Mary arrived at the home of Elizabeth: The baby John leaped with joy while in the womb of Elizabeth, and the Holy Spirit filled her! The rest of the text shows the result of her filling of the Spirit.

These two women would deliver to Israel two men who would change Israel forever, no, they would change the world forever. John prepared people to receive Jesus, and the world has never been the same since!

Questions:

  • Have you been the same since you met Jesus?
  • Did you need to change?
  • If you needed to change, but have not, why do you think that is?
