When Israel left Egypt, all the males had been circumcised, but during the next 40 years, the children of Israel did not circumcise their boys. Therefore, before they entered the Land of Canaan, they had to make this right,
At that time the LORD said to Joshua, “Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time.” So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins (Joshua 5.2–3).
When the Lord says to do something, you do it. I hear people argue all the time why they do not have to do what He says, or they will deny that doing what He says has anything to do with salvation.
However, you need to make sure that when you appear before the Judgment Throne of God, you have given your best effort to obey Him!
- Are you excusing yourself from keeping a command of the Lord?
- Are you prepared to tell Him why you believe you do not have to keep that command?
