Finally, the children of Israel entered the Land of Canaan, 38 years later than they should have, but they learned to believe and obey the Lord and when they did, no one could stand in their way, even their enemies confessed such,
Now it came to pass when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it—as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king—and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty (Joshua 10.1–2).
The king of Jerusalem knew that if Jericho and Ai fell before Joshua and Israel, and if Gibeon saw the wisdom in making peace with Israel, that meant trouble. When the Bible (a Book that typically does not embellish), says that someone feared greatly, you know that fear took total control of that person.
When the church and her members start believing fully in the Lord and obeying Him with all their hearts, we shall see the world in great fear.
- Do you have total belief in the Lord?
- Do you make it a point to obey the Lord?
