If anyone knows the true of identity of Jesus, other than the Father, Spirit, and the angels, it would be demons, but who would want their endorsement?
Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” (Luke 4.33–34).
The demon in the man spoke the truth, but people will generally not accept the testimony of the wicked, and certainly not the very wicked. However, the demon spoke the truth, so the Holy Spirit saw to it that the testimony of this demon made it into the pages of Scripture.
- Why would demons lie about the identity of Jesus? Do they have anything to gain by doing so?
- What would you think, if the most evil man in your town confessed that you were of God?
