At 40, Caleb spied out the Land of Canaan with eleven other men, and he did not fear the Canaanites, even the giants among them, and later as a man in his 80s, he could even fight the giants and win,

Now to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a share among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, namely, Kirjath Arba, which is Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak). Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak from there: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak. Then he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir (formerly the name of Debir was Kirjath Sepher) (Joshua 15.13–15).

The sons of Anak were giants and so was the rest of the family, but that did not stop Caleb because he did not put his faith in himself, but in the Lord, and that enabled the man to do whatever the Lord wanted done!

  • If you believe in yourself, can you find any biblical hero who believed in him or herself?
  • Were not all biblical heroes people of faith?
  • In whom did they have their faith?
