Israel sinned against the Lord, so He sent an oppressor against them, and they asked for help, but the Lord reminded them that He had delivered them in the past from other oppressors, and then they would turn back to idols after the Lord had delivered them. Therefore, He said that He would not deliver them in their present distress. They confessed their sin, and the Bible says,

So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel (Judges 10.16).

They confessed their sin, and they repented, showing their repentance by putting away the foreign gods they had accumulated and serving the Lord. Since they were doing the right thing, yet an enemy oppressed them, it grieved Him, and the Bible shows that He then delivered them yet again!

Questions:

  • Have you confessed your sin?
  • Have you shown the Lord that you have repented of that sin?
