To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 12–14 on April 4, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord sent an angel to a woman to explain that she would have a son, and she was to rear him as a Nazirite. When her husband learned of the visit of the angel, but only thinking that he was a man of God, her husband prayed to God to send the man again,
And God listened to the voice of Manoah, and the Angel of God came to the woman again as she was sitting in the field; but Manoah her husband was not with her. Then the woman ran in haste and told her husband, and said to him, “Look, the Man who came to me the other day has just now appeared to me!” So Manoah arose and followed his wife. When he came to the Man, he said to Him, “Are You the Man who spoke to this woman?” And He said, “I am.” Manoah said, “Now let Your words come to pass! What will be the boy’s rule of life, and his work?” (Judges 13.9–12).
Although the angel had already explained what they were to do, Manoah’s excitement led him to want to see the man from God, whom Manoah would find out was truly an angel from the Lord.
- Have you prayed to the Lord about how to bring up your children?
- If your children have already grown up, have you thought about praying for young parents that they might bring up their children in the Lord?
