To read the Bible in a year, read First Samuel 25–26 on April 18, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
David prepared himself and his little army to retaliate against a man who insulted him and would not help him when he needed it, although David had protected this man’s workers and possessions. However, the man’s wife did not know what her husband had done, but hearing that David and his army advanced toward her home to take vengeance, she went out to meet him with humility,
Now when Abigail saw David, she dismounted quickly from the donkey, fell on her face before David, and bowed down to the ground (1 Samuel 25.23).
Keep in mind that David was only in his 20s when this happened. Yet, this woman rode a donkey to meet him, and upon seeing him, she got off the donkey immediately and bowed down before David, even putting her face to the ground! Then she spoke humble words, and turned David’s wrath away.
- Have you humbled yourself before someone?
- Did you show your humility?
