05.18.2016 New Testament: John 6.60
To read the Bible in a year, read John 6.45–71 on May 18, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Jesus declared that He is the Bread of Heaven, and that to have life, we must eat His flesh. Many people did not understand what He meant,
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” (John 6.60).
Yes, what Jesus said presents a difficulty initially, but with further investigation and contemplation, we can understand what He means. However, some people when they come across the “hard sayings,” of the Bible, they immediately revolt, become angry in some cases, and reject the word of God.
Keep your heart tender and receptive, and never let the word of God offend you, but seek to understand it, and if you cannot figure it out on your own, ask for help.
- What are hard sayings of the Bible that have caused you to back off from the Lord?
- Do you think the Lord is wrong?
- If He is not wrong, who is?
