Satan must have thought that he had the upper hand when the tribe of Judah had a rough start,

The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by the daughter of Shua, the Canaanitess. Er, the firstborn of Judah, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; so He killed him. And Tamar, his daughter-in-law, bore him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five (1 Chronicles 2.3–4).

The Messiah would descend through Judah, but the Lord took the lives of both Er and Onan, as shown in the Book of Genesis, and then Tamar tricked her father-in-law into impregnating her, for he thought she was a harlot, so both of them were wrong, but from that union came one through whom God would give us the Savior of the world!

We do not see how the Lord works, but we know that He does and marvelous are those works.
