Every nation and even every church seems to follow the pattern of Israel. Consider the reign of King Rehoboam, son of Solomon, as an example,

Now it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel along with him (2 Chronicles 12.1).

People do well and become strong, and believe they have no need to follow the Lord and His teachings anymore. Be sure, therefore, to determine in your heart that you will remain loyal to Him, even if you become successful.
