06.20.2016 Old Testament: Neh 13.1–3
To read the Bible in a year, read Nehemiah 12–13 on June 20, In the year of our Lord 2016

When the Jews read the Law of Moses, they discovered something that they had not been observing,
On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people, and in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever come into the assembly of God, because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing. So it was, when they had heard the Law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel (Nehemiah 13.1–3).
They had not kept this part of the Teaching of Moses, and they could have let that persuade them to continue to ignore it, after all that is what people often do. They think to themselves that there must be a good reason why something has been ignored, and so they continue to ignore it. Or they ignore it, because no consequences seem to have occurred for ignoring it in the past.
However, if the word of God says to do something, do it, even if the rest of mankind ignores it, and God shall reward you richly later.
