07.04.2016 Old Testament: Job 30.16–19
To read the Bible in a year, read Job 29–30 on July 4, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
What should a person do when his life and even his body turn to dust and ashes? Do what Job did,
“And now my soul is poured out because of my plight;
The days of affliction take hold of me.
My bones are pierced in me at night,
And my gnawing pains take no rest.
By great force my garment is disfigured;
It binds me about as the collar of my coat.
He has cast me into the mire,
And I have become like dust and ashes.”
Job had become like dust and ashes, and he told his friends about it, and he knew that God heard his words. Grief filled Job’s heart, but he did not keep it there; he opened his heart and let his words come out.
- What do you do when you suffer?
- Do you have a friend or family member to whom you can pour out your soul?
- Are you someone to whom people may go that they can pour out their hearts to you?
