08.03.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 71.12–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 70–72 on August 3, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Psalm 71 teaches trust in God with many reasons why we should trust Him. Consider one small part of the Psalm,
O God, do not be far from me;
O my God, make haste to help me!
Let them be confounded and consumed
Who are adversaries of my life;
Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor
Who seek my hurt.
(Psalm 71.12–13)
When you have the kind of problems that the psalmist had, or any problem, plead with God as the psalmist did, asking for His help and with a specific request.
Questions:
- When you need help do you pray to God?
- If you do pray to God, do you just say, “God help me”? or do you make a specific request?
- Do you know why you should specify a request?
