08.06.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 78.23–25
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 78 on August 6, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord God performed countless miracles and acts of providence for Israel in the wilderness, yet, they continued to disbelieve Him or did not give Him thanks,
Yet He had commanded the clouds above,
And opened the doors of heaven,
Had rained down manna on them to eat,
And given them of the bread of heaven.
Men ate angels’ food;
He sent them food to the full.
(Psalm 78.23–25)
What is it about our God that He continues to show us good things, even after we have sinned or failed to give Him thanks? As Paul said in Romans 2.4, the goodness of God should lead us to repentance. Would we not much rather have that as a persuasion than His wrath?
Questions:
- Are you thankful to God for all the good in your life?
- What good things has God done for you? (And do not just list physical things, but be sure to list spiritual blessings.)
