The throne of David for all generations

Psalms Bible Background

08.10.2016 – Old Testament: Psa 89.3–4

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalm 88–89 on August 10, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

David was the great hero of ancient Israel. Therefore, the Bible speaks highly of the throne of David, but his throne was not just for Israel for the forty years of his reign,

“I have made a covenant with My chosen,
I have sworn to My servant David:
‘Your seed I will establish forever,
And build up your throne to all generations.’”
Selah
(Psa 89.3–4)

Here we are 3,000 years later, and the throne of David, now enthroned by Jesus of Nazareth, is just as much for us today as for any past generation, because the God of heaven keeps His promises.

Questions:

  • Is the son of David, your King?
  • Do you expect Him to submit to you or do you submit to Him?
