The highness and humility of the Lord

Psalms Bible Background

08.19.2016 Old Testament: Psa 113.4–6

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 112–115 on August 19, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

Who is higher than the Lord who created all things? Yet, who has so humbled Himself as He has to see what we do? Listen to the words of the psalmist,

The Lord is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
(Psalm 113.4–6)

What nation has ever existed that goes higher than the Lord our God? I know not one. Their glory lasts temporarily upon the Earth, but His glory goes even above the glorious heavens!

Show me a god of any culture that being so high, then humbles Himself to consider the affairs of the heavens and the Earth!

For the rest of the day, think of how high our God is, but how He has also humbled Himself, especially on the cross.
