Do you want your light to continue or to be put out?

Proverbs Bible Background

09.08.2016 – Old Testament: Pro 13.9

To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 13–14 on September 8, In the year of our Lord 2016

By Don Ruhl

Does your life show that you have reason to rejoice, or does your life show that you have a bad end coming? If you are not sure, see your life in another person, and then decide. In the meantime, ponder this proverb,

The light of the righteous rejoices,
But the lamp of the wicked will be put out.
(Proverbs 13.9)

It comes down to whether you are righteous or wicked. If your concern is for righteousness, the Lord will make sure that you have things to bring joy, but if you do not care for righteousness, and if you pursue a wicked life, He will put out your lamp.
