To read the Bible in a year, read Ecclesiastes 4–6 on September 18, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
Are you prone to speak your mind? Do you have the tendency to do all the talking? Do you find yourself criticizing before you have heard all the facts? Listen to the wisdom of Solomon,
Do not be rash with your mouth,
And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.
For God is in heaven, and you on earth;
Therefore let your words be few.
For a dream comes through much activity,
And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.
We sometimes speak because we think we know all the truth or we believe we know what shall happen or is happening. However, we only see things from the vantage point of Earth, whereas God dwells in heaven and can see everything. Therefore, do not speak as though you are God, but let your words be few and see what happens.
- Why do the many words of the fool reveal his foolishness?
