Some people in the first century church did not like Paul, and many do not like him today, even in the church! Some people believe that he preached his own doctrine, but read Galatians 1 and find out whether he invented his message or whether he received it from the Lord. Part of his message included this,
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus (Galatians 1.15–17).
No one in the first century disputed this information, and if someone did, their refutation did not survive, no doubt because it they were wrong. Paul spoke the truth, and we do well to accept that truth.
Questions:
- What do you think of Paul?
Paul? If half of our people were half as dedicated as he, it would be a far better and far greater church than what we have now.
