09.24.2016 – Old Testament: Isa 1.11
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 1–3 on September 24, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
You sacrifice for the Lord and to the Lord. Why? What do you hope to achieve? The Lord asked something similar of the children of Israel,
“To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?”
Says the LORD.
“I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle.
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
Or of lambs or goats.”
(Isaiah 1.11)
They brought all these offerings to the Lord thoughtlessly, and He did not want them any longer. Yes, He commanded the sacrifices, but He also wanted a devoted heart to make those offerings. If their hearts were not into it, He wanted to know for what purpose they offered those sacrifices.
Questions:
- Why do you worship the Lord?
- What is your purpose?
