Why does someone turn from the Lord? Whether that Christian states it explicitly or not, he has something against the Lord, although the Christian may not believe that to be true. Consider what the Lord says,

Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel. Thus says the LORD:

“What injustice have your fathers found in Me,
That they have gone far from Me,
Have followed idols,
And have become idolaters?”
(Jeremiah 2.4–5) 

Now that should give a fallen Christian something to ponder. The Lord asked that of Israel, and He wants to know the same thing from His children today, who see no reason to continue to walk with Him.
