Sinning is bad enough, but then to add more sin, and to enshrine it, well that just shows that our sin has not been a matter of momentary weakness, but of outright rebellion against the true and living God, and that we have made sin our god, as the Lord said to Jerusalem,
“Then it was so, after all your wickedness—‘Woe, woe to you!’ says the Lord GOD—that you also built for yourself a shrine, and made a high place for yourself in every street. You built your high places at the head of every road, and made your beauty to be abhorred. You offered yourself to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your acts of harlotry. You also committed harlotry with the Egyptians, your very fleshly neighbors, and increased your acts of harlotry to provoke Me to anger (Ezekiel 16.23–26).
For doing such, Jerusalem paid a heavy price at the hands of the Babylonians, whom the Lord sent to purify His people through war.
Questions:
- If you have been adding to your sin, what will the Lord have to do to get your attention and move you to repentance?
- What is stopping you from repenting right now?
