11.18.2016 – New Testament: Heb 13.11–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 13 on November 18, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
We have an altar in heaven, and those who do not follow Jesus, have no right to eat from that altar. Therefore, the Book of Hebrews declares,
For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach (Hebrews 13.11–13).
Those animal sacrifices foreshadowed the sacrifice of Christ, for He also died outside the camp (Jerusalem), and now we imitate Him when we bear His reproach. People will ridicule you and mock you for your belief in Him, but remember that He suffered reproach for you.
- Has someone mocked you for your belief?
- How did you respond?
