12.02.2016 – New Testament: 1Jo 1.1
To read the Bible in a year, read First John 1 on December 2, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
John and his fellow-apostles did not just get a mere glance of Jesus, but they spent a great amount of time with Him before and after His resurrection, so that John could say truthfully,
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— (1 John 1.1).
John listened to the words and the voice of Jesus. John saw Jesus, not merely with his mind’s eye, but with his natural eyes. John looked over Jesus to make sure that this was the Jesus he had known the previous three and a half years. John also handled Jesus, shaking hands, embracing Him, or whatever first century Jews did. John could confirm that the Jesus he saw after the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth was the same Jesus he saw before the crucifixion.
