Jesus opened the first six seals that were on the scroll that the Father had been holding. Before the opening of the seventh and last seal, God wanted John to see something first,

After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree (Revelation 7.1). 

What was about to happen? The Lord had four angels holding back the four winds of the Earth. Why? He did not want the wind to blow on the Earth, the sea, or even a tree. But why? As you read further into the vision, you discover that the angels held back these winds because something very important had to be done: the counting and sealing of the servants of God.
