12.28.2016 – Old Testament: Zec 8.6
To read the Bible in a year, read Zechariah 7–9 on December 28, In the year of our Lord 2016
By Don Ruhl
The Lord revealed to the Jews, living in troublesome times during the life of Zechariah, that the Lord had zeal for Zion, that He would return and dwell there, that old people would again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, and that boys and girls would play in the streets again, showing times of peace and safety.
He knew that sounded marvelous to the Jews, and He wanted them to know that it was marvelous to Him also,
“Thus says the LORD of hosts:
‘If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’
Says the LORD of hosts.”
The Lord loves to work in situations where man thinks nothing good can happen, and that all hope has vanished. Then He does something wonderful and people glorify Him for it and they run to Him, which is what He wants. He wanted the Jews then, and He wants all people now to go to Him for the blessings of life.
- Do you believe that the Lord can turn at least some situations around?
- What is your hope for the church right now?
