01.03.2017 – Old Testament: Gen 6.14–16
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 6–8 on January 3, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The Lord made the decision to wipe out the world with a flood, but He wanted Noah and his family spared, along with representatives of all the animals of the Earth. To accomplish this, the Lord had Noah build an ark,
Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks (Genesis 6.14–16).
The Lord did not give Noah every detail, knowing that Noah could figure those things out. All Noah needed was to know the size of the ark, the material, and how much habitable space he needed inside.
He did as the Lord instructed, and we are here today as a result!
- How many woodworking abilities do you think Noah had acquired after 600 years?
- Do you believe that Noah failed by not being able to save more than just his family?
