01.04.2017 – Old Testament: Gen 10.2–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 9–11 on January 4, In the year of our Lord 2017

The worldwide flood of Noah destroyed every person on the Earth, except for Noah and his family. That means every person living on this Earth today is related to all other people, because we have all descended from Noah and his wife, and one of their sons. Not surprisingly then the Book of Genesis shows us the different people groups who descended from Noah’s sons, including,
The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations (Genesis 10.2–5).
The Lord could continue right down to every person living today. How large of a book would that be? Anyway, the Lord knows your family background, but what matters more to Him is whether you are part of His family, His family in the Spirit.
Questions:
- How far back can you trace your family?
- Has your genealogy surprised you?
