01.18.2017 – Old Testament: Gen 42.27–28
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 42–43 on January 18, In the year of our Lord 2017

The sons of Jacob viewed their lives within the context or framework of God. Therefore, when they experienced blessings, they credited Him for those blessings. When bad things happened, they questioned what God was doing, such as when they left Egypt with grain, but also when one of them discovered his money in the sack of grain,
But as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey feed at the encampment, he saw his money; and there it was, in the mouth of his sack. So he said to his brothers, “My money has been restored, and there it is, in my sack!” Then their hearts failed them and they were afraid, saying to one another, “What is this that God has done to us?” (Genesis 42.27–28).
Truly, God did work in that situation, but not to harm them or to punish them, but to save them, using them to give the world the most blessed gift ever when the Christ was born centuries later.
- Does God work in your life?
- Have you found out later that He worked in your life, although you were unaware of it at the time?
