01.22.2017 – Old Testament: Exo 2.1–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 1–3 on January 22, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Solomon said, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” (Ecclesiastes 11.1). The mother of Moses did something similar with him,
And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank. And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him (Exodus 2.1–4).
What would she, or another woman, or the world find after many days? You know that the mother of Moses gave the world one of the greatest leaders ever, so much so that the Lord promised to send a prophet, referring to the Lord Himself, and He would be similar to Moses!
She was also like Hannah, who gave her son Samuel to the Lord as a young boy, and what did she give the world!
