Sometimes the messenger repulses us, but if his message supports the truth, we do well to listen to it, believe it, and obey it, even as Jesus said in regard to the self-righteous and obnoxious scribes and Pharisees,

Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do” (Matthew 23.1–3). 

Hearing the truth from repulsive people may not be easy, but we still have to do it, because the truth is the truth, and Jesus said to heed it. If the messenger turns you off, do not let it turn you off from the Message.
