People give us advice on matters that we already question, but to appease someone else we go ahead and ignore our doubts, all to our destruction, as was the case with Pilate,
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of Him” (Matthew 27.19).
Pilate already questioned the Jews about the guilt and innocence of Jesus, believing Jesus to be innocent, but Pilate wanted to appease the Jews and so lingered. Pilate’s wife sent a message to him that he should have nothing to do with Jesus, a just man, and Pilate ignored her.
There is a time to listen to others, and there is a time to ignore others. Wise is he who knows when to listen and when to ignore. Pray to the Lord for the wisdom to know the difference.
- Have you ignored when you should have listened?
- Have you listened when you should have ignored?
