02.25.2017 – Old Testament: Num 14.24
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 14–15 on February 25, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Twelve spies went into the Land of Canaan and reported back to Moses and Israel on what they saw. Ten of the spies persuaded Israel that they could not conquer the land, but Caleb, along with Joshua, sought to persuade Israel that they could take the land. The Bible then reveals what the Lord thought of Caleb,
“But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it” (Numbers 14.24).
Caleb did not set out to have a different spirit simply because he wanted to be different, no, he just wanted to follow the Lord fully, because he believed the Lord’s promises, and sadly, that made Caleb different from the others.
Questions:
- What kind of spirit do you have?
- Do you have a spirit of doubt or of obedience?
