02.26.2017 – New Testament: Mark 6.51–52
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 6.33–56 on February 26, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The disciples saw Jesus walking on water, and when He entered their boat, the storm ceased. Watch their reaction, and then listen to Mark’s comments about their reaction,
Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened (Mark 6.51–52).
Watching Him walk on water, going up the waves then down the waves, and witnessing the cessation of the storm when He entered the boat, so amazed them that Mark said their amazement was so great, you could not measure it, and they just marveled. Evidently they did not think He could do something of that nature, because Mark says they still had not figured out that He had miraculously multitude bread earlier.
If they had realized what He did earlier, and if they had realized who He was that He could multiply food, they would have expected Him to be able to walk on water, and to still a storm, although it still would have been a wonderful sight.
