03.01.2017 – New Testament: Mark 8.32–33
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 8 on March 1, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Jesus taught His disciples that He would suffer many things, including rejection by the Jewish leaders, and finally the leaders would kill Him, but Peter would not believe that such could happen to the Lord, so watch what Peter did, and then the Lord’s reaction,
He spoke this word openly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men” (Mark 8.32–33).
Peter did not realize that he had strayed from thinking as God does and had adopted man’s thinking, which ultimately comes from Satan. Therefore, while Peter sought to rebuke Jesus, Peter is the one who needed the rebuking and the Lord rebuked him.
Questions:
- Have you found out later that you had taken Satan’s side or man’s side on an issue?
- Do you seek daily to mind the things of God?
