03.13.2017 – New Testament: Mark 14.41–42
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 14.26–50 on March 13, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
During Christ’s darkest hour, when He needed His disciples praying for Him more than at any other time, they slept,
Then He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand” (Mark 14.41–42).
Three times He had to awaken them, because they kept falling asleep while He went a short distance away and prayed.
Yes, we need sleep, for the Lord Jesus Himself created us with that need, but sometimes we sleep when danger approaches, and that is a bad time to sleep.
- Why do you fall asleep other than at times when you are supposed to sleep?
- Do you know how to resist falling asleep during times when someone needs you?
