Offering sacrifices of righteousness

Deuteronomy Bible Background

To read the Bible in a year, read Deuteronomy 33–34 on March 19, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

Before Moses departed from the Earth, he blessed the children of Israel according to their tribes. Of Zebulun and Issachar, he said,

And of Zebulun he said:

“Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out,
And Issachar in your tents!
They shall call the peoples to the mountain;
There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness;
For they shall partake of the abundance of the seas
And of treasures hidden in the sand.”
(Deuteronomy 33.18–19)

He put Zebulun and Issachar together, and spoke of them offering sacrifices of righteousness together. How much our world today needs for those with the spirit of Zebulun and Issachar to offer sacrifices of righteousness. Our world sees wickedness growing daily, especially among secular people, the people who make no claim to godliness. This is the time to let the light of Christ be seen in this dark world!

Questions:

  • What can you do to promote righteousness?
  • Have you prayed to God, offering yourself to Him for Him to use you as He pleases in this world?
