03.21.2017 – Old Testament: Jos 5.4–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Joshua 4–6 on March 21, In the year of our Lord 2017

For some reason, the Israelites did not circumcise their 8-day old boys born in the wilderness. Therefore, before the nation could conquer the Land of Canaan, a mass circumcision had to take place,
And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: All the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt. For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised (Joshua 5.4–5).
Why did Israel neglect this during those 40 years? The Bible does not say, and for this point in the story, it does not matter. It simply had not been done, and needed to be done, and Joshua saw to it that it was done.
- Is the current generation of the church neglecting something?
- If so, what are you doing about it?
