What the Lord wanted from the children of Israel

To read the Bible in a year, read Joshua 21–22 on March 28, In the year of our Lord 2017

What had the Lord done for Israel? I suppose the list is endless, even as it is endless for every person on the Earth, especially those who have been saved by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. With Israel, you know how He saved them from Egypt, took them through the wilderness, and then brought them to the Land of Canaan that He gave to them as a gift. Some of the tribes settled on the East side of the Jordan and Joshua reminded them,

“But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul” (Joshua 22.5).

The Lord wanted His people simply:

  • To take heed to His commandments
  • To love God
  • To walk in all His ways
  • To keep His commandments
  • To hold fast to Him
  • To serve Him with all their heart and soul

Does not the Lord simply want the same from us? He saved us because He loves us; now we can show our love for Him by listening to Him carefully, by walking with Him, and by staying with Him in our hearts and souls!

Questions:

  • How do you show the Lord that you love Him?
  • How does He show you that He loves you?
