03.29.2017 – New Testament: Luke 6.38
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 6.27–49 on March 29, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
We think that if we give liberally, we shall be without, hence that we shall lose, but listen to what Jesus said about giving. Then practice what He said, and see whether it happens as He said that it would,
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6.38).
With the Lord, you will always receive more than you give. However, notice that the standard here is that of the measure we use. He will simply take our measurement and give it back to us, although He will fit more into that measure than we did.
Questions:
- Should your measure be smaller or larger?
- Do you fear to give?
