03.31.2017 – Old Testament: Jdg 3.27–30
To read the Bible in a year, read Judges 3–5 on March 31, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
For 18 years, Moab oppressed the children of Israel, but when they cried out to the Lord, He heard their cries and sent the judge Ehud to deliver them,
And it happened, when he arrived, that he blew the trumpet in the mountains of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mountains; and he led them. Then he said to them, “Follow me, for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” So they went down after him, seized the fords of the Jordan leading to Moab, and did not allow anyone to cross over. And at that time they killed about ten thousand men of Moab, all stout men of valor; not a man escaped. So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest for eighty years (Judges 3.27–30).
When they turned to the Lord, He gave them a man capable of leading them in victory. Leaders can mobilize a whole nation, or a congregation of God’s people. Someone who stands up and shows an organization where it needs to go and what it needs to do, will have people follow and wonderful things will happen.
- Can you lead? Are you leading?
- If you cannot lead, are you following cooperatively?
