03.31.2017 – New Testament: Luke 7.48–49
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 7.31–50 on March 31, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Jesus had acknowledged that a woman had many sins, but with her humility and act of love toward Him, Luke wrote,
Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” (Luke 7.48–49).
Who is Jesus to forgive sins? Anyone of us can and should forgive someone who sins against us, but we do not have the authority to forgive anyone’s entire life of sin. Who can do such a thing? Only God can forgive sins. Yet, if Jesus forgave sins, what do we have to conclude about Him?
Questions:
- Are you willing to forgive others?
- Have you sought the Lord’s forgiveness?
