Undistracted versus Distracted

Luke Bible Background

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 10.25–42 on April 6, In the year of our Lord 2017

Successful people in any field have a focused spirit, and those who allow themselves to get distracted, never become what they could have been. Watch the difference between two sisters in the presence of Jesus,

And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me” (Luke 10.39–40).

One sister drank of the words of Jesus as she sat at His feet, and the other sister did not drink of the words of Jesus, which led her to disdain her sister (momentarily), and to order Jesus to do something about her sister.

Lately I have been praying to God that I have a focused, concentrating, and undistracted spirit, and He is answering my prayer!

Questions:

  • Are you a Mary or a Martha?
  • If you are a Martha, what distracts you?
