04.22.2017 – New Testament: Luke 18.28–30
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 18.18–43 on April 22, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Jesus spoke of the difficulty of rich people going to Heaven. When the apostles heard Him teach that, they questioned who could be saved. He assured them that God can do the impossible. Then Peter wanted the Lord to know that they had left everything to follow Him,
Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life” (Luke 18.28–30).
Give it up for Jesus and He will give it up for you. Truly, He shall give much more back to you than you have given to Him, for we always reap more than what we sow.
Questions:
- Have you had to give up anything or anyone for Jesus?
- Has the Lord already started blessing you for it?
It seems almost ungrateful, something in the spirit of Peter, to mention what we have given up when we came to Brazil. But our children were deprived of their grandparents, and we all of our families. Now, we are far from our children and our own grandchildren. What we have gained, however, is far greater, as you said.
