The wealth of Solomon’s kingdom exists only in our imaginations, because while we live on the Earth, I doubt that any of us shall see something as wildly wealthy as his kingdom, shown by the shields he made,
And King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of gold went into each shield. He also made three hundred shields of hammered gold; three minas of gold went into each shield. The king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon (1 Kings 10.16–17).
Who do you know who has that much gold that he or she can put a great deal of it into shields that will not see war, but will only hang in his house?
Questions:
- What would you think of a place that paved its street with gold?
- How much gold do you own?
