05.06.2017 – New Testament: Luke 24.49
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 24.36–53 on May 6, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Jesus opened the minds of the apostles that they might understand the Scriptures, because He would then send them out to preach. Therefore, they needed to have a good understanding of what the Lord had said in the Scriptures, and then they would change the world forever. However, first they had to wait,
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24.49).
Sometimes we have to do something, but at other times, there is nothing that we can do but wait. This time the apostles had to wait, for what they were about to do, they could not do on their own. Ten days later, they received the Holy Spirit and the world has never been the same.
Questions:
- Are you doing something when you should be waiting?
- Are you waiting when you should be doing something?
