05.29.2017 New Testament: John 11.37
To read the Bible in a year, read John 11.18–46 on May 29, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Jesus had the power to cause the blind to see. From that, some people reasoned that He should have had the ability to keep people from dying. Referring to Lazarus, who had died four days earlier,
Some of them said, “Could not this Man, who opened the eyes of the blind, also have kept this man from dying?” (John 11.37).
People today ask the same thing. They read in the Bible of the wonderful things the Lord has done, and they question why He does not do the same or even greater things today.
Jesus did raise Lazarus from the dead, but Jesus did not raise everyone in those days. Everyone who questions the Lord’s power and motivation will one day see Him raise all the dead.
- What would happen if the Lord prevented everyone from dying?
- Have you accepted the fact that someday you shall die?
