06.17.2017 – Old Testament: Neh 4.22
To read the Bible in a year, read Nehemiah 4–6 on June 17, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
When Nehemiah went to Jerusalem to rebuild its walls, he made enemies quickly. He and the Jews prepared for an attack, but they also had to rebuild the wall. Therefore, every worker also carried a weapon, and those workers could not go home at night,
At the same time I also said to the people, “Let each man and his servant stay at night in Jerusalem, that they may be our guard by night and a working party by day” (Nehemiah 4.22).
Those were tense times, but the men knew what they had to do to get the job done and to keep an enemy from destroying their work, and they did it.
